Francisca Pérez is an artisan from San Andrés Larráinzar, Chiapas, which is a small town that belongs to the Tsotsil ethnic group. It has one of the most ancient and traditional embroidery techniques called “Brocade”. The figures of plants and animals they embroider have a strong resemblance to Mayan textiles found in Yaxchilán. Women from San Andrés study ancient Mayan textiles and offer classes on how to master the ancient art of extracting natural dyes like the Mayans did. Francisca began selling her products in 2014 and creates products with unique embroideries using high quality materials, which makes them original.
