The history of fans dates back to the pre-Historic period, when men discovered fire and needed to blow the flames in order to make them bigger, they would use any object for that purpose. It is known that fans were used by Egyptians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks and romans. Alexis Gordillo's fans are hand painted with the lacquer technique (paint made with powdered pigments and mixed with linseed oil). Artisans paint on cotton fabrics and finish them with clear industrial spray lacquer. Alexis has many original designs, which are made in Chiapa de Corzo, Chiapas. Blue polished wooden fan with superior edges in cotton fabric and lacquer floral motifs painted with pencil brushes and fingers. Made by artisans from the Municipality of Chiapas de Corzo, Chiapas.
